Attention Undergrads: Phi Alpha Theta Info & Brainstorming Session, September 22

September 22, 2016
Dear students,

You’re invited to the first Phi Alpha Theta event of the year:

Phi Alpha Theta Info & Brainstorming Session
Thursday, September 22
7:00-8:00pm
HGS 211

Phi Alpha Theta is the national undergraduate history honor society. It provides students enthusiastic about history with a forum for engaging their interests outside of the classroom. It aims to connect history students with other history majors, graduate students, and faculty; to invite guests to speak on topics of interests; to host professional development events; and to link students with opportunities to present their research and compete for scholarships.

During the first third of the meeting, we’ll discuss:
  • more about what the organization is and does;
  • requirements for membership, dues, membership benefits, and initiation;
  • what leadership positions are available and how to run for them.
We’ll spend the remaining 40 minutes:
  • brainstorming activities you would like the group to organize this year;
  • organizing membership recruitment efforts;
  • planning for the organization’s formal initiation ceremony.
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. I hope to see you there.

Best,
Jennifer Allen
Faculty Director, Phi Alpha Theta
