History & HSHM Pre-Dissertation Summer Research Fellowship
The History Department is pleased to offer a limited number of Pre-Dissertation Research Fellowships to allow students in the first and second years of the PhD program to conduct preliminary archival research on potential dissertation topics during the summer months.
Priority will generally be given to students of U.S. history who are unable to apply for summer funding from the MacMillan Center and its constituent Councils, but consideration will also be given to students in other fields who have not been able to secure funds elsewhere.
Please note that students may only receive this award once during their time in the program.
For 2020, awards will be for amounts up to $1000 and may be used to cover the cost of travel, lodging, photocopying and other reasonable research expenses. Original receipts are necessary for reimbursement; no meals are covered.
All application materials must be submitted via the form below by April 27, 2020. Fellowships will be announced by mid-May and must be used before the beginning of the Fall semester. All receipts must be submitted by September 29, 2020.
Reimbursement Policies and Procedures
Receipts need to be submitted within ten days after completing your travel.
