Bio: 

Michelle Johnson is a third-year PhD student in the joint program in History and African American Studies. Her research is on the long civil rights movement in Chicago and the urban North, with a specific focus on the role of women in organizing and activism during these movements. Michelle graduated with honors in History and Africana Studies from Brown University in 2016. When not in the library or classroom, Michelle is also a fitness instructor at Pure Barre.
