Primary field of interest:

Ancient History

I am a second year PhD student in Ancient History. My research interests concentrate on the political, legal and administrative history of the Later Roman Empire although I am also broadly interested in the religious and social history of Late Antiquity. I particularly enjoy working on Ammianus Marcellinus and fourth century political history - especially around the reign of the emperor Julian.
I am originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, where I lived until the age of 18. I attained both my BA and Masters at Trinity College, Oxford.
When not working, I enjoy travelling, cycling, going to the movies and spending time with my girlfriend Lucy. My trips have largely been home to Europe so far but I’m looking forward to exploring more of North America in the coming years.
