Bio: 
Mikhail Moosa is a Ph.D. student in the Department of History. His interests include histories of ideas, decolonization, space, and urbanization. His research explores the social history of the environment in cities, focusing on the history of Johannesburg from the late-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century. His work traverses urban, environmental, and social history in tracing how urban South Africans perceived the space of the city evolving under conditions of rapid urbanization, underdevelopment, and racial segregation. 
 
He completed his MA at the University of Sussex and his BA at the University of Cape Town. Prior to joining Yale, Mikhail worked as a researcher for a non-profit organization and in broadcasting in South Africa.
