OAH amicus brief written by George Chauncey cited in Supreme Court decision

In a historic civil rights ruling issued today in Obergefell v. Hodges, the U.S. Supreme Court made marriage a right available to all Americans, regardless of sexual orientation. The OAH Executive Board submitted an amicus curiae brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of the petitioners written by historian and OAH member George Chauncey on the history of discrimination against gay men and lesbians in America.

Dean Jonathan Holloway throws the first pitch at Marlins-Yankees game

Those who saw Jonathan Holloway throw the first pitch in the June 15 game between the Miami Marlins and the New York Yankees might not have guessed that the Yale College dean had rarely touched a baseball in his life.

For all his inexperience, Holloway’s pitch went off without a hitch.
