Bio:
Jibran A is a PhD student in South Asian history. Jibran studies labour history in 20th century Western India and his dissertation is situated at the intersection of labour and legal history. In particular, Jibran examines labour regulation, social relations and the history of informal labour situated around Bombay’s docks. More broadly, Jibran is interested in histories of capitalism and political economy as well as the changing relationship between the modern state and capitalists in the Global South. He has an MA in Modern Indian history from Delhi University, India. His current areas of interest include welfare in post colonial India and the history of shipping. Jibran is also a co-convener of the Asia History working group.
