Bio:
Charlotte Rich is a PhD student in the History of Science and Medicine. Her research examines reproductive and maternal health in the nineteenth century, with a focus on centering marginalized women’s narratives. She explores the experiences of immigrant women, uncovering and tracing their interactions with early medical specialties like gynecology. She is interested in the potential for histories of medicine to bring light to contemporary medical disparities, and contribute to movements for reproductive justice and anti-racist medicine.

Charlotte is originally from New York City, and received a B.A. in History with honors from Wesleyan University. Her undergraduate thesis explored gynecology and obstetrics in 1850s New York, tracing the experiences of Irish immigrant women as patients and experimental subjects.
