Bio: 

Mindy Su is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at Yale University. Her dissertation uses the Japanese port city Kobe to re-think the early history of industrial capitalism in East Asia from the perspective of marginalized people and trans-local connections. This project explores the intersection of urban history, business history, and history of migration in modern East Asia. Her research has been supported by the Council on East Asian Studies, the Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration at Yale University and the Japan Foundation.  Mindy holds an M.A.in East Asian Studies from Yale University and a B.A. (Hons) in Political Science from the National University of Singapore.
