Tom Guan

Yiyun Tom Guan started his Ph.D. in History at Yale in 2025. Tentatively, his dissertation studies the Cold War in the Indian Ocean, with China and India as the two main nodes, and with a focus on geostrategy, political economy, and extraction. Tom received his BA and MA from Tufts University, where he studied South Asian history and international relations. Adapted from his Master’s thesis, Tom’s article, “A Boundary that Binds: Territoriality, Connectivity, and the Making of the China-Pakistan Border,” is forthcoming in the Journal of Asian Studies.
