Brett Voyles
Bio:
Brett Voyles is a PhD student studying modern Latin American history. She is particularly interested in thinking through the connection, continuity, and change between the Cold War and Pink Tide in Colombia and Venezuela. Her interests broadly include oral history, state formation, revolution/counterrevolutionary movements, political violence, migration, and popular politics.
Before coming to Yale, Brett earned a BSFS in International History at Georgetown University and an MA in history from New York University. Between her undergraduate studies and graduate school, Brett worked in non-profit organizations in Washington DC focused on civil society and due process across Latin America. At Yale, she is currently serving as the coordinator of the Latin American History Speaker Series and the Latin American Studies Working Group for 2025-2026.
