I am a PhD student in Chinese History. I am interested in the relationship between material and cultural exchange between China and the wider world, especially via trade routes.
I’m from Northeast Ohio and earned my BA in History at Baldwin Wallace University. I earned an MA in History at Miami University, where I taught world history and researched tensions between tourism and historical preservation at heritage sites in Xi’an, China. I then earned an MA in East Asian Studies at Yale University, researching the compilation of foreign knowledge in a 9th century Chinese miscellany. Before completing my MA at Yale, I studied in Taiwan for a year on the Richard U. Light Fellowship.
